Room Noir began as one man’s fine art photography project. A way of using a camera to explore beauty, identity and the human form. Since then it has grown into an independent online publication, but the photography is still at the center: artistic nude work, portraiture, fashion and sensual imagery that treats the body as both subject and language.
Around that core, Room Noir now publishes films, interviews, essays and the stories behind each project. Some of those stories fit in a single frame. Others need a film, a conversation, an editorial series, or a look back at the history behind an image.
Photography and film are treated as their own crafts here, each one opening into fashion, eroticism and visual culture. We not only explore how the art is made, but give insight so you can also understand why it matters.
