Amy aka Psstmagic: Nude Art Photography in Tulum | Room Noir
Two of the things that Nina and I have in common is our passion for travel, and our love for photography. Both of those things have taken us to some pretty amazing places, and met some really cool people along the way. Some of those people are easy to notice and really stick out when they walk into a room. Amy aka Psstmagic was one of those people.
Nina and I met Amy in Tulum, Mexico, during the Vagabond photo retreat where we also met Erika. There were a lot of interesting people at that retreat and we made some good friends, but Amy caught our attention and stood out to both of us. She’s a beautiful redhead with freckles, a completely natural look, and a free spirit that came through almost immediately.
Amy, who is known online as Psstmagic or Pssymagic, is a nude art model and content creator. She already had experience being photographed nude and creating her own content, so there wasn’t much hesitation when we started talking about creating something together.
What started at the retreat eventually turned into a much more personal photo session at our Airbnb.
Meeting Amy in Tulum
The Vagabond retreat was one of those trips where the photography was only part of the experience. Photographers, models and creatives from different places came together in Tulum to shoot, explore and make connections.
Amy had the kind of personality that made it easy to talk to her. She was very relaxed and adventurous, and that fit the environment perfectly. Tulum is already a pretty unique place for photography, with the beaches, cenotes, jungle and natural light giving us plenty to work with.
We ended up photographing Amy around Tulum, including some nude art work and body paint in the jungle and on the beach.
Unfortunately, the photographs and video I shot of Amy on the beach were lost in the same backup incident that took the images from my shoot with Erika. Two completely different shoots, but they were on the same backup drive. Years later, it’s still painful knowing that some of those photographs are simply gone.
Fortunately, that incident didn’t claim everything.
The Airbnb Shoot
After the Vagabond retreat, Amy came over to our Airbnb and we decided to do another photo session.
This time it was just Nina, Amy and me, which gave us a completely different environment to work in. Instead of trying to make the most of a busy retreat schedule, we could slow things down and let the session develop naturally.
That’s where the images featured on this page came from.
The Airbnb had a really cool boho vibe to it. Amy’s freckles, red hair and skin worked incredibly well with the warm, natural tones in the room.
This wasn’t a complicated setup or elaborate styling. Nina did a light natural makeup look that complimented Amy’s freckles. Nothing over the top so what you see is just Amy, the light and the camera.
That’s often where the best photographs come from in my opinion.
A Nude Art Film With Psstmagic
We also filmed the session, creating a two-part nude art film.
The first part has been edited into a censored version that can be watched above. The full-length uncensored version of Part 1, as well as Part 2, is available exclusively to Room Noir members.
The videos are a different experience from the still photographs. With photography, everything comes down to a single frame. Video lets the session breathe a little more and captures the movement, expressions and atmosphere that happen between those frames.
For this shoot, that worked particularly well.
Psstmagic Nude Art Yoga Session
One of the things I really wanted to capture while we were shooting was Amy doing yoga.
Considering her personality and the environment, it seemed like a natural fit. We set up the camera and Amy went through a nude yoga routine while I filmed it.
The result is one of the more interesting pieces of video and photography from the session because it isn’t just another nude art film or photos. There’s a completely different rhythm to it.

Amy has built an audience under the names Psstmagic and Pssymagic, and she’s been creating online content for years. She has also appeared as a social media influencer and global traveler, including an appearance on the Talk, Naked podcast in 2020.

Psstmagic Nude Art Session | The Photos That Survived
It’s ironic that the beach photographs were the ones we lost.
Tulum gave us some incredible locations, and I would have loved to have those photographs sitting alongside these images. But photography has a way of reminding us that nothing is guaranteed. Drives fail. Backups fail. Files disappear.
What we still have from the Airbnb session is a pretty good reminder of why we shoot in the first place.
Amy was completely comfortable in front of the camera, the light was right, and there was no pressure to force anything. We could experiment, move around the space and see where the photographs took us.
The result is a collection of nude portraits, movement and video that feels very different from a traditional studio shoot.
And considering how much of the original Tulum session was lost, I’m especially glad we decided to keep shooting after the retreat.
